Man, 23, sentenced to 220 years in prison for month-long rape of 3-year-old girl

A 23-year-old man was sentenced to 220 years in prison for raping a 3-year-old girl left in his care.

And prosecutors said he frustrated the judge by failing to to own up to the crime.

Mr. Jason Jerome Hambrick was convicted of two counts of rape, child molestation and first-degree cruelty to children, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

He was also charged with aggravated sodomy, according to the Fulton County jail booking records.

The incidents occurred during a one-month span in July of 2011, the district attorney’s spokeswoman Ms. Yvette Jones said.

Investigators said Mr. Hambrick forced the child to engage in various sexual acts on repeated occasions, causing physical scarring.

“The molestation was discovered by relatives of the victim who witnessed her making inappropriate sexual gestures,” Ms. Jones said.

After further questioning the child about her behavior, the relatives immediately notified authorities and took the child to the hospital for an examination, Ms. Jones said.

A search warrant was issued for Mr. Hambrick’s home and DNA; and he was subsequently arrested in August of 2011.

After citing Mr. Hambrick’s failure to accept responsibility for his actions, Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford sentenced Mr. Hambrick to 220-years in prison – 50 years on each of the sex related charges and 20 years on the cruelty charge – all to run consecutively, Ms. Jones said.
