A 22-year-old man was arrested Monday for allegedly striking and killing a pedestrian and then leaving the scene last week in Marietta.
Mr. Tanner Lee Bertram of Acworth turned himself in to police and was taken to the Cobb County Jail, where he will be charged with felony hit-and-run and second degree vehicular homicide, according to Marietta police.
He is accused of killing Mr. Matthew Tyner, a 20-year-old from Marietta, police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said.
A 20-year-old man was killed in a hit and run wreck while walking on a Marietta road, and police are searching for a Kia Spectra that they believe was involved in that wreck.
The incident happened on North Marietta Parkway between Wallace Road and Interstate 75 around 3:10 a.m. Friday.
Investigators said Mr. Tyner was walking in the far right, right turning only lane when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, which proceeded to leave the scene.
He was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital via Metro Ambulance, where he was pronounced deceased from his injuries, police spokesman Officer David Auld said.
A day after the incident, police were searching for a 2007-2009 four door Kia Spectra, either a hatchback or coupe model, with right side passenger front end damage, Officer Auld said.
It’s unclear if they ever found the vehicle.
