A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times and left to die in the hallway of a luxury apartment complex Sunday morning in Midtown Atlanta.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man as Brandon Michael Gibson. But they don’t know where he lived. And police are trying to determine why he was at the complex as well as who killed him and why.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at SkyHouse apartments at 1080 West Peachtree St. near 12th Street, according to Atlanta police. Officers responded to the complex after getting a report of a person shot, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

“When officers arrived at the location, they located the victim in the hallway on the fourth floor,” Jones said. “The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Investigators with the police department and the medical examiner’s office were called to the scene to interview witnesses and collect evidence, police said. Gibson was shot where he was found, they said. Police have not said how many times he was shot or where on the body he was struck. It's also unclear what type of weapon was used.

Several people said that a music video shoot was going on at the time of the shooting, according to media reports. But police have yet to confirm that information. Investigators believe all parties involved knew each other because everyone left the building after the shooting happened, Channel 2 Action News reported. But it's unclear how many people were at the apartment at the time of the shooting and whether police have been able to find any witnesses to the shooting.
