Man, 21, crushed to death by forklift at workplace in Cherokee County

A 21-year-old employee at Little River Marina on Lake Allatoona was crushed to death by a forklift late Wednesday morning in Cherokee County.

And local and state investigators are trying to determine what happened to cause the man’s death.

Mr. Josh Roberts, of Woodstock, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began at 11:19 a.m. when deputies were dispatched to the Little River Marina on Bells Ferry Road after someone called about the workplace accident, the sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said.

“Upon arrival they discovered a deceased male employee of the marina who had been crushed by a forklift,” Lt. Baker said.

It’s unclear what the man was doing when he was crushed and deputies did not say if anyone witnessed the incident.

Deputies do not suspect foul play, but investigators from the sheriff’s office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the incident.
