Man, 21, arrested after three patrons shot at Waffle House in Clayton County

A 21-year-old Riverdale man was arrested Sunday after a triple shooting Sunday at a Waffle House in Clayton County.

Mr. Deuntae Jones was taken into custody after a traffic stop and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct and carrying a concealed weapon, according Clayton County police.

He was also charged with affray and possession of a firearm during the commission of felony, police spokesman Officer John Schneller said.

The investigation began around 12:30 a.m. when officers responded to the Waffle House at 1152 Tara Blvd. in Lovejoy after getting a call about a fight, Officer Schneller said.

“After arriving at the scene, officers found that shots had been fired and subsequently located three people who sustained gunshot wounds,” Officer Schneller said.

All three were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

Police said a group of young adults were at the crowded restaurant when they got into an altercation with another group of patrons who had just entered.

The argument spilled out into the parking lot and was followed by gunfire. It’s unclear what prompted the argument.

With information gained from the scene, officers located and conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, Officer Schneller said.
