A 21-year-old suspect was charged Friday with murder in the shooting of a man at the Food Fare store on Hunt Club Road in Richland County.
On Friday, the Richland County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Mr. Robert Howell, 51, of 7602 Hunt Club Road.
“An autopsy conducted today shows he died from a gunshot wound to the upper body,” Coroner Mr. Gary Watts said.
The shooting happened Thursday around 7:40 p.m. while Mr. Howell was inside his car in the parking lot of the convenience store at 7564 Hunt Club Road, officials said.
On Friday afternoon, deputies arrested Mr. Tevin Richardson for the crime, according to media reports.
Mr. Richardson was arrested at Fairways Apts. on Powell Road. Deputies believe the victim knew his attacker, according to Channel 19 News Station.
Mr. Richardson initially fled the scene with two other individuals, a man and a woman. One of the men fled on foot while the other two fled in a metallic blue or silver Honda, the station reported.
Sheriff Leon Lott says that the Honda has damage to the rear driver’s side door and has custom rims on the tires.
Anyone with information on the other two is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 274-6372.
