A 20-year-old man was arrested Thursday in the murder of a teen who was shot multiple times outside an apartment building where his girlfriend lived.

Micki Antonio Brown, Jr., of Ridgeland Avenue in Macon, was arrested shortly before 9:45 a.m. and charged with murder in the death of 19-year-old Majesty Jaques Conover, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested near the Neighborhood Grocery Store at 2675 Montpelier Ave., the sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Sean DeFoe said.

Still, investigators have not yet released a motive for the murder. And at least one more person is believed to be involved in Conover’s shooting, which happened late Wednesday night at the Colonial Terrace Apartments.

Around 11:15 p.m. someone called to report a person shot at the complex at 3775 Houston Ave., DeFoe said. When deputies arrived they found Conover with multiple gunshot wounds outside his girlfriend’s apartment building, officials said.

The teen, who lived on Case Street in Macon, had been shot in the torso and chest with a handgun, according to the Bibb County Coroner. Conover was transported to the Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:43 a.m. Coroner Leon Jones said.

Witnesses told investigators that they saw two men arguing with Conover just before he was shot, DeFoe said. The suspects then fled the scene in a newer model dark-colored Honda, the spokesman said.

It’s unclear what the three were arguing about and it was also unclear where Conover’s girlfriend was at the time of the shooting.

Brown was being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without bond Friday, according to jail records.
