A man found a 2.89 carat diamond in an Arkansas park last week. According to a FOX News report on March 12, Brandon Kalenda of Maurepas, Louisiana had been searching Arkansas' Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro and after just 20 minutes he got lucky -- he unearthed a white diamond.

"Sure enough, Brandon found his diamond after searching for about 20 minutes in the Fugitt’s Bank area of the park’s search area. We encourage park visitors to look for pockets or layers on the surface of gravel, and search there," said Park Interpreter Margi Jenks.

The man took his 2.89 carat diamond from Arkansas park home and has decided to give it a name: Jax Diamond, after her son, Jax. Kalenda and his family decided to take a trip to the park after they saw an episode of "19 Kids and Counting" where the Duggar's went to the park. Evidently their hunch really paid off -- and they aren't the only ones. Several people find diamonds at this park every year.

According to Jenks, the conditions for finding diamonds is perfect right now. Generally, after a few days of good rain, the ground settles and the diamonds sparkle, making them easier to see.

The man's 2.89 carat diamond found at the Arkansas park is triangular and about the size of "an English pea" according to Jenks. It's unknown what Kalenda plans to do with "Jax Diamond."
