The Mammoth Bluegrass Festival will be held Labor Day weekend this year, from Aug 30 - Sept 1, at The Village at Mammoth, Canyon Boulevard, Mammoth Lakes, CA., and runs from 2 p.m. on Friday to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Visit here for the schedule.
The outdoor event will bring to the High Sierras, some of the best Bluegrass Musicans, such as Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Peter Rowan, Chris Jones & the Night Drivers, along with about 7 more topnotch artists, who will perform at the Canyon Lodge in the Mammoth Lakes area.
During the festival 'Bluegrass Jamming Classes will be offer and taught by Rick Sparks on all three days; 5-7 p.m.on Fri, and 10 am - noon on Sat & Sun; at a cost of $65 per person if paid in advance; $70 if paid on site, and $25 for a single class. Visit here for more information.
Mammoth Lakes, at an elevation of 7,880-feet, is located on the edge of the "Long Valley" Caldera which is an area that has hot springs and rhyolite domes, and not far from Mammoth Mountain Ski area, Devi'ls Potspile National Monument, lakes and a soda spring.
The area is good for camping and RVing any time during the year, as well as having a variety of lodgings and dining establishments, a visit here will give lots more information. There are also non-stop flights from Los Angeles that take only one hour.
