“Mamma Mia!” is back at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis for one week only - February 18th to the 23rd. This feel-good show is based on the music and lyrics of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus (the two B’s of super-group ABBA) and is one of Broadway’s biggest hits with an audience of over 54 million people worldwide.

The story takes place at an island hotel in Greece and is focused on twenty-year-old Sophie’s upcoming wedding. Sophie yearns to know her father’s identity and a peak into her mother’s diary reveals three possible candidates for her father. She secretly invites the three men to her wedding with the hopes of uncovering the truth and having her father walk her down the aisle. The surprise invites of three former flames throws Sophie’s mom Donna into a tizzy and in the 24-hours leading up to the wedding, more confusion than resolution takes place about who the father is. Throw Donna’s girlfriends and one-time bandmates Rosie and Tanya into the mix and the show officially becomes a riot.

The star of this musical is definitely the classic ABBA tunes. Favorites like ““Dancing Queen”, “S.O.S.”, “Money, Money, Money”, “Take a Chance on Me” and “Knowing Me, Knowing You” will leave your toes tapping. By the close of the performance, the audience joins in on the funny and dysfunctional wedding celebration with a get-out-of-your-seat dance party.

Don’t miss “Mamma Mia!” as it stops in the Twin Cities. Tickets start at $34 (subject to change) depending on performance times and seating preferences. Student and educator ‘rush seats’ are available at a discount.
