Surprise horror hit “Mama’s” director Andres Muschietti has found something to follow-up with.
According to Heat Vision yesterday, Universal has bought the rights to Josh Malerman’s debut novel “Bird Box,” and Andres will be directing.
Thanks to the success of his horror outing Universal is giving him what is said to be a budget five times the size of the Jessica Chastain starer.
“Bird Box” centers on a blindfolded threesome—a woman and two children—make their way down a river in a seemingly post-apocalyptic setting.
It is being compared in tone to “Children of Men” (which is one of my favorite Clive Owen films) and “The Others” (which is my favorite Nicole Kidman film) so that is always a good thing.
While the plot doesn't make sense to me now I’m sure the trailer will clear everything up, and thanks to the quality of “Mama” I am actually excited about this.
