Maloofs selling Sacramento Kings; NBA team to be relocated, renamed (Video)

“RHOBH” Adrienne Maloof and her brothers are finalizing a deal to sell the Sacramento Kings for $500 million to a group led by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and hedge-fund manager Chris Hansen, Yahoo Sports reported on Jan. 9. The group wants to move the franchise to Seattle’s KeyAreana for the 2013-2014 season. The Maloofs are expected to retain a very small percentage of the NBA franchise but will have no real input or say in the NBA team, sources said

Fans of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” know that Adrienne Maloof, and now ex-husband Paul Nassif have often traveled to Sacramento Kings games via private plane. In a scene from season two of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’, Kim Richards was to accompany Adrienne and Paul to a Kings game. At the time, Nassif asked Maloof if she felt it may be unsafe for her to go to the game, as fans were angry about the Maloofs decision to either move the team to Las Vegas or sell the Kings. Either way, the city of Sacramento would lose the NBA franchise.

The Maloofs, which includes “RHOBH” Adrienne and brothers Gavin, George, Joe and Phil have unsuccessfully tried to get Sacramento taxpayers to replace the dilapidated Sleep Train Arena. A deal was nearly reached with Sacramento leaders when the city backed out. The Kings’ status in Sacramento has been shaky since the Small Train Arena deal fell apart near the end of the 2011-2012 NBA season.

When the sale of the Sacramento Kings is complete, the Seattle-based group of investors will have until March to file for relocation of the team. Once the sale is complete and the franchise relocated, the Seattle owners plan to change the Kings’ name and logo back to the original Seattle Sonics. “Same name and logos,” a source working with the investment group said.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. on Bravo
