Miss America 2013 is Miss New York Mallory Hagan, who was crowned on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013. The pageant was held at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and televised live on ABC Television Network. Chris Harrison, host of "The Bachelor," and Brooke Burke-Charvet, co-host of "Dancing with the Stars," hosted the pageant.

Hagen, 23, is from Brooklyn, New York. She took home the crown after competing with 52 other contestants. The first runner-up was Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers and second runner-up was Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton.

Miss New York Mallory Hagan was crowned following the question segment. The top five contestants were challenged with a question by a judge selected by a drawing.

"I don't think the proper was to fight violence is with violence," replied Hagen. "I think the proper way is to educate people on guns and the ways we can use them properly. We can lock them up, we can have gun safety classes, we can have a longer waiting period."
For the talent portion of the pageant, Hagen tap danced to James Brown's "Get Up Off of That Thing." During the evening gown portion,she strutted down the runway in an asymmetrical white gown. Hagen donned a revealing black string bikini for the swimsuit portion of the pageant.
Mallory Hagen wins a $50,000 college scholarship and gets the Miss America crown for one year. She will represent the Miss America organization for the year. She has stated that her platform for the year with be to fight child sexual abuse.
