Malia Obama gets fashion attention on China trip

Malia Obama, daughter of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, has been drawing quite a lot of attention on her recent trip to China. According to a March 25 report on the NY Daily News, she is rivaling her mother in the attention her fashion choices receive from observers in the media. The 15-year-old First Daughter is tall and thin, prompting remarks that she looks like a model.

Both Malia and her younger sister, Sasha, have been credited with wearing fashion in age-appropriate ways. They were spotted wearing trends such as flouncy skirts, prints, and knits. Both girls sported flats instead of heels, which Michelle Obama often chooses to do, which may possibly be an accommodation to her height. At one stop at a school in Beijing, Malia wore knee socks and Sasha wore tights, both of which have been cited as being such age-appropriate, but also very fashionable choices.

Malia and Sasha are spending a week in China with their mother and grandmother during their Spring Break. The trip is supposed to focus on education and a cultural exchange of sorts.
