A male hospital patient being treated at a Staten Island hospital was drugged and then raped by a male nurse’s aide, according to police sources Saturday. The unidentified male patient, 37, is cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues, according to Page Six on Sept. 15.
The male patient was being treated for pneumonia at Richmond University Medical Center when the alleged rape occurred Wednesday. The victim told investigators that the male nurse's aide ordered a heavy dose of Benadryl for him, which ultimately rendered him groggy.
The victim claims the aide asked one of the nurses to give the male patient something to help him sleep. The nurse's aide apparently waited for it to take effect, and then told the patient to come to the bathroom.
The victim said when he entered the bathroom, he was pushed up against a wall and sodomized. He added that it happened quickly, and he was too "messed up" on the medication to stop it.
A hospital spokesperson said the accused suspect has been suspended, and they are cooperating with police in the investigation.
