Maksim Chmerkovskiy is done. He is officially calling it quits, the hot Ukrainian dancer says, with “Dancing with the Stars.” The popular dancing teacher-partner, who has been with “DTWS” since season 2 in 2006, recently informed show producers that he will not be a part of the upcoming round, reports TMZ on Friday, Feb. 22.
Maks has been paired with contestants from the ever-popular Kirstie Alley – who is old enough to be his mother – to the elegant Melanie Brown, better known as Scary Spice. (Or Mel B.) Add in athletes Misty May, Laila Ali and Hope Solo. He and his various star-partners have come close, but Maksim Chmerkovskiy has never had a winner. It’s got to be disappointing. Possibly that’s why he says he is done.
His on-screen chemistry has been great, but some of his partners have complained of off-stage violence. Certainly, Maks is known for his hold-nothing-back style.
The dancer’s brother will be returning to the show, so Maks’ many fans will still have a big, sexy Ukrainian dancer to watch. Meanwhile, Maksim Chmerkovskiy is – temporarily, at least – done with the television circuit, taking some time to manage the four dance studios he owns in the New York area.
Sources say that Maksim Chmerkovskiy, 33, wants to stay active in the entertainment business, and that he is pursuing some movie and other types of television projects. At least a few fans will follow him wherever he goes.
