Maksim Chmerkovskiy explains why he's not returning to "Dancing with the Stars" this season, reports Yahoo! TV on Feb. 26, 2013.
"I just want to set the record straight to all of my amazing fans that I will unfortunately not be returning for this season of "Dancing with the Stars." I’ve been a pro dancer on the show for about seven years now and am eager to explore other opportunities that have been made possible because of the show. I'm going to take this time to dive into producing and acting, while fulfilling my sponsorship obligations. A big thank you to all of my fans for your never-ending support. I also want to thank the entire cast and production of "Dancing with the Stars."
Maks, who according to Yahoo! News is still under contract with the show, is not only a daring, excellent dancer, but he's also daring and outspoken. When singer Brandy paired up with the pro-dancer in season 11, Maks was one of the most vocal when the singer, who was considered a good dancer, was eliminated and Bristol Palin, considered a not-so-good dancer, remained. Reported Today, on Nov. 17, 2010, Chmerkovskiy said, "This season has just been ridiculous since day one. Just one after another after another. Brandy and I think this is the culminating point of this season, it just came crashing down. We almost feel like the effort wasn't worth it. We put in a lot of work. We put in a lot of effort. It's been a very, very difficult season...It just feels like it was an uphill climb the entire time and to really come that short of the finale. It's just very upsetting."
"Dancing with the Stars enters a new season, and the cast for season 16 has been announced: Country singer Wynonna Judd, comedian D.L. Hughley, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" Lisa Vanderpump, comedian Andy Dick; boxer Victor Ortiz, Disney star Zendaya Coleman, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, "General Hospital"'s Ingo Rademacher, country singer Kellie Pickler, and figure skater Dorothy Hamill.
