Try to remember the most fun game that you ever played. The kind of game that you can play over and over again. Now when was the game made? 10 years ago? 20 years ago?....30 years ago? And if you said a game like Modern Warfare then you are excluded because you probably weren't born 20 years ago. I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just saying that your lack of experience keeps you from being able to see my point here.
Video games developers have been making games for about 30+ years now and it seems like games keep getting crappier and crappier. Seriously. Stop yelling out your most favorite games trying to disprove my point please. Because for every single game you belt out, I can send you a list of a hundred that were horrible. And that is the point. There shouldn't be so many horrible games out. Developers should take their time to make the games that are fine.
Sequels. There is no more sure money maker than the sequel. If you make a game that is halfway fun, then you can make a sequel that is almost guaranteed to make that money back. And why would you want to create an original game when you can recycle your old engines and textures in a sequel.
It really makes me angry. To a point I can't even express online in a blog (Go figure). The green has dominated this industry ever since the business men upstairs figured out that the video game industry was worth millions of dollars. They pump their dollars into bigger computer to make better graphics and more realistic engines and if they could only realize that most gamers don't really care about those things as the main priority. They throw their money into a new video card to make pimples more realistic and I'm playing games on my PSX still that barely have clipping effects.
Please wake up guys. Spend time. Make a fun game. We will reward you with money and great reviews. And fans that you earn through fun stick around.
