Channel your “Saturday Night Fever” 1970s disco days leisure suit, because on Thursday’s “Project Runway” on Lifetime that was the challenge. Sponsored by the show’s Red Robin restaurants, the designers took a field trip out to a Red Robin. Here they had a classic burger of their choice and bottomless fries.

After lunch, the VP of Red Robin hinted their challenge would be a take on a classic. The designers, and most likely many viewers, may have been thinking “it’s a hamburger challenge.” To their surprise, men dressed in horrible polyester suits in hideous bright colors and prints came out with their trays of hamburgers.

Last week’s challenge winner, Sandhya, got first choice on a leisure suit she has to construct out of into women's wear. Some designers were pleased with Sandhya’s choice for them, while others were verbally not amused (Hernan).

In the workroom several designers were in their element with creating a high fashion look, while the villain of the week, Hernan, was constantly struggling and complaining. Kini completed his look in record time with a black pinstriped suit, and turning out a masterpiece. Amanda probably received the most hideous leisure suit of all. Her inspiration was to go bohemian. She added fringe that certainly transformed it, but wasn't exactly be high fashion.

On the runway it was fascinating to see what everybody came up with. The motorcycle jacket ensemble from Korina was stunning, though she didn’t make the top three. Afterwards, the top three were Kini, Amanda, and Alexander. The bottom three was Hernan, Kristine, and Sean.

During the judging phase Hernan complained he had poor quality of fabric to work with. Tim Gunn’s close-up with the six designs revealed Hernan’s material from his leisure suit was strong and sturdy. In a surprise twist Amanda won her second challenge, though it should have been Kini’s win. Not at all surprising was Hernan’s exit from the competition.
