Making Guns Illegal similar to Marijuana is Doomed to Fail

What most do good, gun grabbing anti 2A leftists continue to think and feel is that if you pass a law; written words on a piece of paper or in cyber space will STOP & BLOCK all bad things related to that law from ever happening. The mentality that "Morality can be Legislated" is typical from the pointy headed academics who essentially live in La-La Theory Land.

The reality that anti-gun and gun control laws will keep guns out of the hands of bad people is very idealistic & naive to say the least. The case in point can easily be seen and predicted with the "War on Drugs". Many states have legalized marijuana use. The fact remains that just because there were laws on the books making it illegal to use Marijuana that many people ignored them and continued to use the product and in fact its availability was NEVER really in jeopardy just because it was illegal. The same will apply to ANY & ALL Guns!

This very same theory and case applies to guns and firearms. Just because guns are illegal or laws are past to limit their use & access does NOT mean they wont be available or easy to find. Essentially an entire Black Market will be formed and there will be even less control and tracking making it even harder & more complicated to solve gun crimes.

Harvard Publication On Gun Laws Resurfaces As Talks About Firearms Continue
A study comparing international gun laws shows that getting rid of firearms might not be the solution to reducing overall violence.

In the 46-page study, which can be read in its entirety here, Kates and Mauser looked at and compared data from the U.S. and parts of Europe to show that stricter laws don’t mean there is less crime. As an example, when looking at “intentional deaths,” or murder, on an international scope, the U.S. falls behind Russia, Estonia, and four other countries, ranking it seventh. More specifically, data shows that in Russia, where guns are banned, the murder rate is significantly higher than in the U.S in comparison. “There is a compound assertion that guns are uniquely available in the United States compared with other modern developed nations, which is why the United States has by far the highest murder rate. Though these assertions have been endlessly repeated, [the latter] is, in fact, false and [the former] is substantially so,” the authors point out, based on their research.

But when it comes to examining nations as a whole, the Harvard study suggests otherwise. “If more guns equal more death and fewer guns equal less death, areas within nations with higher gun ownership should in general have more murders than those with less gun ownership in a similar area. But, in fact, the reverse pattern prevails,” the authors wrote.

Gun Control Laws Wouldn't Stop Senseless Shootings – They Would Cause More

The problem isn’t guns, it is people. There will always be evil people, and there will always be irresponsible people. In the modern era, parents are permissively and lazily allowing their children to play unlimited violent video games and watch unlimited violent television. Studies have proved over and over again there is a correlation between high levels of these activities and violent behavior in children. As long as parents are allowing these savage mediums to babysit their kids, instead of taking the time to really parent them, some of these children are going to act out violent tendencies.

Banning guns won’t stop violence. There have been killing sprees with knives and bombs. Three people were killed and 264 injured when the Tsarnaev brothers set off two bombs at the Boston Marathon in April earlier this year. In September, a student in Houston stabbed four other students with a knife at Spring High School, killing one of them. It is generally illegal to make a bomb, whereas owning a knife is generally not illegal. This reveals that it does not matter whether a particular type of weapon is banned or not; deranged people do not care about the law. The 9/11 terrorists did not use firearms. When they took over the airplanes with boxcutters, if there had been armed marshalls or pilots (and some would argue, passengers), the terrorists might have been stopped.

Should gun shows be outlawed?

Regardless of how you voted above the below article really contributes to the theory that outlawing a substance or tool like a Gun clearly does not keep it from being used!

Gun Crime Soars in England Where Guns Are Banned

The Government's latest crime figures were condemned as "truly terrible" by the Tories today as it emerged that gun crime in England and Wales soared by 35% last year.

Criminals used handguns in 46% more offences, Home Office statistics revealed.

Firearms were used in 9,974 recorded crimes in the 12 months to last April, up from 7,362.

It was the fourth consecutive year to see a rise and there were more than 2,200 more gun crimes last year than the previous peak in 1993.

Figures showed the number of crimes involving handguns had more than doubled since the post-Dunblane massacre ban on the weapons, from 2,636 in 1997-1998 to 5,871.

On top of these figures, the notoriously violent city of Washington D.C. just saw its murder rate fall below triple digits for the first time since 1963 and just four years after the Supreme Court overturned the city's handgun ban in District of Columbia v. Heller.

The District is poised to finish the year with fewer than 100 murders for the first time since 1963, and neighboring Prince George's County likely will post its lowest homicide total in 25 years.
