Making football safe, war nonviolent and Obamacare affordable

"Obama says football needs to become less violent" – WGAN NewsRadio, Sunday, January 27, 2013.

With the advent and likely massive future expansion of the oxymoronically named Affordable Care Act which seeks to pay for everyone's healthcare with everyone else's money through the magic of Total Taxation, Federal Reserve counterfeiting and borrowing from Lower Slobbovia, the last sucker country on earth that will loan us money, the president has the "right" to emphasize preventive care that will avert concussions and other injuries to help hold down medical costs.

So in the not too distant future North Texans can grab a bottle of Near Beer and a recycled box of organic salt-free popcorn and settle in for a Sunday afternoon of rooting for their Dallas Cowbabies of the Center for Disease Control approved PCNFFC.

This, of course, is the NFL successor Politically Correct National Flag Football Collective that will feature bubble-wrapped players happily bumping into one another while contesting the possession of a large inflated football-shaped beach ball.

But they may get stiff competition from the televised games of that new phenomenon, the SAINBA (Sissified American Indoor Nerf Ball Association).

But this unrealistic "non-violence" movement has other ramifications for our society.

For example, the public school-induced irrational fear of guns and progressives' fantasies about eliminating gun violence has already left today's young adults so unprepared for the grisly realities of war that this has become a typical headline:

"18% More U.S. Troops Committed Suicide Than Died in Combat Last Year" – Atlantic Wire, January 14, 2013.

So in America's next great United Nations-sanctioned War to Bring Democracy to the People of Lower Slobbovia (and so we won't have to repay the money we borrowed from them) picture this:

American forces swathed in Flag Football Collective bubble wrap uniforms will attack the enemy with government-issued paintball rifles and beanbag guns while the United States Drone Force carpet bombs them with water balloons.

The libertarian response to all of this is unequivocal and rational: abolish all coercion and help educate people to the reality that freedom and responsibility are equal sides of the same principle.

If you want to play NFL football you learn about and accept the consequences up front and pay for your own medical expenses.

And if you want to wallow in hoplophobia (the irrational, morbid fear of guns) that's certainly your right; just don't force others to live according to your affliction.
