Simple and quick to make, gift tags put your personality on gift giving. They can be as unadorned as a stamp or as elaborate as stamped, decorated with ribbon, colored, and glittered.
Useful Supplies;
- Card stock or item tags bought from an office supply store is the place to start.
- Glue.
- A hole punch
- Family Photos
- Holiday Cards from past seasons
- Holiday wrapping or simple colored paper
- Any stamps you currently own - along with ink for them.
- Scraps of ribbon
- Colored Pencils, markers or crayons.
Ideas to evolve into your own;
*Cut the tag stock into shapes, round to resemble christmas decorations, triangle for the shape of a tree or rectangular and square to match the shape of the image you will affix to it.
*Use your hole punch to make scalloped edges.
*Cut ribbon or paper in shapes that will allow you to put together a mosaic design. Such as, you can fashion two triangles into a star.
*Add more color with markers or colored pencils. Fill in color or outline simple shapes.
*Use glue to add a dot of sparkle with glitter here and there. This is especially nice on stars and snowflakes.
*Replace the strings in the tags with ribbon, twine or wire for a more handcrafted look.
*Always be sure to include "To" and "From" somewhere on the tag.
*Having a child write out the to and from on the tag holds pecial appeal to loved ones.
*Gift food tags should always include ingredients. People with food allergies will be grateful.
*If you are gifting a mix the receiver needs to prepare, besure the directions are somewhere on the packaging for the mix rather than the tag. The tag can state where to find the directions. Should the tag get lost it won't be the end of the world.
