Looking to make a difference in 2011?
The Washington State Animal Response Team (WASART) is looking for a few good men and women who are interested in helping animals and their owners in disasters.
This Saturday, January 8th, WASART will be holding its annual orientation meeting to acquaint new and prospective members to the history, activities, membership and expectations of this all volunteer organization.
Just three-years since its inception, WASART has approximately 150 members, located primarily in Western Washington, from the Canadian to Oregon borders. The volunteer members are trained in large animal rescue, technical animal rescue, and swiftwater rescue. WASART members assist the County with animal-related emergencies, and there is an agreement to set up and operate a large animal shelter in the event of flooding of the Green River Valley.
There is no fee for the session and all interested adults (18 and over) are invited.
More information about WASART can be found online at www.washingtonsart.org
