Tips, tricks and techniques can all be taught and put to use. All of that can go wrong if you use the wrong tools. Makeup brushes can be the key to an amazing flawless face. Foundation brush, stipple brush, eye shadow brush, crease brush and more. Sometimes a sponge is best for foundation, and a powder brush isn’t always best for powder. Also using your fingers can change the formula in foundations and won’t stay on as long.
There are things not so many know and it will change so much for your makeup routine. Let’s start with a stipple brush; it can give an airbrush look that will give a flawless start to your makeup. I bet you love your powder brush, if you use it for powder you may be ruining your whole foundation. When you swipe the powder brush across your face you are moving your foundation and basically taking off what you worked so hard to perfect. Using a puff is way better; rolling the powder across your face will press it in, setting your foundation even better.
Blending brushes are life savers, when you’re not sure, blend some more. Blending brushes can take harshness away from eye shadow lines and also flow your eye look together. Define your eye lid with a crease brush and a darker shade than the lid color. Press some gel eye liner on your top lash line with an edge brush. To give lashes a fuller look and add volume. Lip brushes are always good to have, especially if you are a Makeup Artist, you never want that lip to lipstick contact.
Some brushes have multiple uses, such as a small angled contour brush makes a wonderful eye brush. It can put shades on and blend them. Concealer brushes can double as a lip brush and flat top brush can be used for both foundation and to pat powder on. Remember pat or roll, never sweep powder! Another great item that we often overlook are the sponge tip applicators that come with most eye shadows. These are actually great for applying eye shadow and also liner your lashes with eye shadow. Run the skinny side of the sponge tip in black or the color you choose then dot it across your water line or lash line. Perfect eye liner in seconds.
Sometimes it’s not always the price of a brush that makes it amazing. A lot of it is how you use it in your hand. Never use plastic bristles,: the bristles will cut your face. You natural hair or synthetic bristles these are best for your face. Wash brushes bi-weekly, and never let water get into the handle. This could cause the glue to become less adhesive and your bristles will fall out. Tools are important in any trade and just as important for the makeup you apply every day.
