If you belong to a homeschool support group you may have access to a group yearbook. They are wonderful and are made to look just like the public school yearbooks. But for something a little more personalized you can make your own!
With scrapbooking being all of the rage, the resources available to you are endless. By going into stores like Michaels, A.C. Moore's or Archiver's, you can purchase an 8x10 scrapbook and make pages of your field trips, accomplishments, etc. as well as journal as mom and teacher how your child has progressed through the year. Even if you have never scrapbooked before, you will find that it is easy to do and makes for a great keepsake memory not only for you, but for your child too!
When you go on a field trip, collect brochures and information regarding the place. Take lots of pictures! When you get home, make sure that you journal and as a writing assignment, have your kids journal too so that you can get both perspectives on the event. A trip to the zoo can be fun and educational, but by writing about it you are incorporating another aspect to the trip. By assembling the scrapbook together as a family, you've taken on a fun and creative art project!
Your pages don't have to be overly fancy and you don't have to buy the most expensive of supplies. The fact that this is part of your homeschool history will make it special enough. Try and keep these books separate from family photo albums so that they stand out more. At the end of your school year, if you have an end-of-the-year type of party, leave a page for signatures of friends and family members just like a traditional yearbook would.
