Three little kittens in mittens make a very attractive Halloween decoration. They are so fun to make and you can involve your children in this craft. It’s fun to save them and see how your children’s hands grow from year to year.
Cut three different colored 5-inch heart-shapes from construction paper to be kittens. Popular choices are black, orange and orange, black and white mixed. These shapes will make the heads.
Glue the hearts upside down in a neat little row near the apex of a sheet of 12-by-18-inch construction paper. Cut out 1-inch triangles for ears to glue onto the tops of the heads. You can also place a little diamond shaped sticker on each kitten's face for a nose. Glue glistening crystal gems for the eyes to the kitten's faces.
Make three different sets of delightful mittens. Trace your child's hands, fingers held together and thumbs sticking out, onto pieces of wallpaper, shelf liner, or fabric scraps.
Glue a mitten pair beneath each kitten.
You can make several sets and line them across the mantelpiece, around a door frame, or you can make little placemats out of them, after covering them with clear construction paper. Some use them for book markers; others take them to school and stick them on their lockers, while still others place them in the windows for passerby to enjoy. There are so many uses for these extremely cute decorations. You can even include them in Halloween give-out to trick or treaters..
Children love to give these to their grandparents or exchange them with friends.
