There are two things most people in Columbus share: #1, a love of pizza, and #2, a need to save money. Unfortunately, we often turn to overpriced delivery food in favor of its convenience. When you learn how easy it is to whip up a cost effective homemade pizza, you may reach for that telephone less often.

Local Publix bakeries offer fresh, un-baked pizza dough for somewhere under $3. Coat it with flour and flatten with a roller or your hands. Place it on a greased round or rectangular baking pan, whichever is handy. Coat with traditional tomato sauce from a jar, or simply slather with olive oil and garlic, ranch dressing, BBQ sauce—whatever you like!

Here are some toppings suggestions to get you going:

• Tomato, fresh basil, and mozzarella cheese (a Marghuerita pizza)
• Bacon, green onion, and pineapple
• BBQ sauce, chicken, scallions, and cheddar cheese
• Spinach, mushroom, and tomato

Save a little money (and a few calories) by baking your own pizza this weekend. Enjoy!
