Do you spend an embarrassing amount of your day trying to beat your high score in the popular mobile game Dots? If so, you’ll be pleased to learn of a new challenge, the “Moves” mode, which the game's publisher Betaworks made available starting on Aug. 15.
The new mode gives players 30 moves to get as many dots as possible. The mode is not timed, so players can take a break and return to the game at their leisure. The scores earned in the “Moves” mode are kept separate from scores earned in the game’s original timed mode, so you can tell at a glance which mode nets you the most dots after a round of play.
A counter on the top left of the screen tells you how many moves you have remaining, and unlike the classic mode, you do not have any audio warnings when your round is near completion.
To access the “Moves” mode, select the pound sign on the app’s main page, and then select “Play Now.” Similar to the classic timed mode, you can also see how your score stacks up against the competition. Trophies are also awarded as you complete achievements.
The game, which is free, was originally launched for iOS platforms and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and requires iOS 5.0 or later. The game was launched for Android on Aug. 15 and is available in Google Play and the Amazon Appstore for Android.
According to Betaworks, Dots has been downloaded approximately five million times and users have played one billion games since its launch on iOS platforms more than three months ago.
