Make Valentine Heart Pops with Leftover Candy Canes (Photos)

While Valentine's Day is still a few weeks away, now is the perfect time to find candy canes on clearance to be used for a heart shaped candy treat. Candy canes of all sizes can be used to make Valentine hearts, but the small ones are best to make treat pops.

To make a Valentine heart pop, line two candy canes with the hooks facing each other on a cookie sheet lined with wax or parchment paper. Place a lollipop stick in between the canes. It should be at least partially inside the heart shape to make a sturdy lollipop. Melt red candy melts, or your favorite chocolate candy in the microwave. The best way to melt candy in the microwave is by stirring it every 30 seconds until it is melted all the way through. Carefully spoon the melted chocolate inside the candy cane heart until the heart is full. While the candy is still warm, add red sprinkles if desired, for a little extra fun. Place the tray of heart pops in the freezer for about 15 minutes to harden the chocolate. Once the heart pop is finished, wrap it in your favorite treat bag or in colored plastic wrap. Valentine Heart Pops are quick and simple to make, and perfect to take to a class party or give out with your Valentines.
