Mardi Gras (aka Fat Tuesday, referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season) is less than a week away – Feb. 12 – but the festivities are kicking off early with this weekend’s Mardi Gras Madness 5K.
The race starts at 9 a.m. and features a flat, fast run through the Thousand Oaks neighborhood of San Jose. Get a sneak peek of the course, which starts and finishes on Normington Way, between Kenton Lane and Mountcastle Way near Terrell Elementary School and Park, here, .
Registration includes a race number/bib, commemorative race shirt and official race time, plus each participant will be awarded with race beads at the finish line.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which is the world's largest voluntary (nonprofit) health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
