River Island believes that peace is far greater than war and to prove their strong commitment to the cause, they have collaborated with the international charity known as War Child. This is a charity organization that is located in some of the most dreadful, conflict-affected areas in the world, places where vulnerable children have lost their homes and their families and communities have been torn apart by war. War Child provides that glimmer of hope and support that literally changes lives. This organization is in it for the long haul as they reach out to children living and working on the street, those kids that are exploited in child labor and child survivors of sexual violence.

Fashion is an international language that is understood by all. Through fashion, River Island and War Child are getting the word out. An exclusive 'Come Together' t-shirt is now being sold to support War Child and its devotion to the cause of protecting innocent children from the horrific effects of war. This is more than your average t-shirt. It is a nostalgic memory of John Lennon as he originally wore the design when he was being photographed laying beside his wife, Yoko Ono, in 1971. River Island CEO, Ben Lewis, says, "“We are excited and honored to join forces with a charity that has already cemented such a sterling reputation. Through this exclusive partnership, we hope to not only utilize our resources as a retail leader to raise awareness of War Child and their cause; but also to support innocent children caught up in terrible wars worldwide.Ben Knowles who is director of music, marketing and communications at War Child also is excited about this partnership and expresses his viewpoint. Interestingly enough, this 'Come Together' logo was donated under license by Worn Free which is a t-shirt company located in California. They specialize in re-creating clothing once worn by music legends. The design team at River Island have turned a cult classic into a contemporary piece of clothing that can be worn by women, men and children. The shirt is currently available in two colors and the best part is that all of the proceeds from the sale of the t-shirt will go directly to support this charity cause.
