With the coming of the new year often comes New Year's resolutions. This year, consider downsizing and updating your wardrobe. Get rid of those clothes that you're saving just in case they come back in style and toss everything that doesn't fit. If you haven't worn something in the past year, chances are it'll never be worn. And, when you buy new clothes, don't shop for your future body size, shop for now. Find what fits and what looks good now rather than for later.

Here are some ideas for getting rid of the clutter:

  1. eBay: collect everything not needed and sell it. eBay sales are a great way to get money back for all of those dusty items sitting and taking up much needed space.

  2. Thrift Stores and Non-Profits: Sharing God's Love, the Salvation Army, Good Will, and others all accept donations.

  3. Consignment Shops: many of these stores love vintage clothing and others accept only contemporary items, however all will find your trash to be their treasures. Someone will love the item that you no longer want or need and will gladly make it their own. For stores in the Columbia area, please refer this Info 101 article.

As for filling up that empty space, here's a list of 2010's predicted women's fashion trends:

  1. Hot pants and boy shorts

  2. Knee high and over the knee socks

  3. Futuristic warrior, a combination of the military and tribal trends

  4. Dresses with high slits

  5. Sportswear inspired by football a la Alexander Wang's Spring 2010 runway show

  6. Jumpsuits, playsuits, and rompers

  7. Patterns and prints for pants

  8. Sheers and see-through fabrics

  9. Boyfriend blazers: the Elizabeth & James collection is a personal favorite with many blazer options to offer

  10. Ripped and torn denim
