Make a resolution to ‘get slim with the stars’ in 2012

Each New Year, we set forth with a list of resolutions and the best intentions of following through. And every year the majority of those resolutions fall by the wayside come mid-January when we seemingly get distracted by other commitments.

But being too busy to eat healthy is no longer an excuse for 2012, thanks to a new program called “Getslim with the Stars” from Freshology, the nation’s premier gourmet home meal-delivery service. Inspired by Dancing with the Stars performers' favorite dishes and made-to-order by top chefs, Getslim with the Stars features 10-, 14-, 20- and 28-day programs (both fresh and frozen) that include breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert delivered kitchen-to-doorstep, anywhere in the U.S. There’s also a limited edition fitness DVD from the show's top professional dancers to help clients burn fat and build muscle while heating up the dance floor.

“Whether customers are looking for a full-body slim-down or to eat right while managing a hectic schedule, Getslim with the Stars takes the effort and guesswork out of maintaining a healthy lifestyle,” says Todd DeMann, Freshology’s founder and CEO. “Past celebrity contestants like Mario Lopez, Stacy Keibler, Marlee Matlin and Kyle Massey, as well as dancers Derek Hough and Anna Trebunskaya have all enjoyed Freshology while on the show; now the rest of America can have the same experience.”

Since 2005, Freshology has been delivering daily servings of calorie-controlled, gourmet meals to the doorsteps of many Southern Californians. In 2009, the company rolled out the first-ever national program, offering seven days of fresh meals in two weekly deliveries. The 30-day rotational menu pairs great-tasting, gourmet dishes with healthy ingredients and costs less than $50 a day.

Freshology’s meals are packed with lean proteins, fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and low glycemic carbs to ensure clients are eating the healthiest, highest quality foods. A day's sample menu looks something like this:

  • Breakfast: Mixed Berry Crepe with Fresh Fruit Salad & Maple Glazed Canadian Bacon
  • Lunch: Grilled Chicken & Portobello Mushroom and Salad with Truffle Vinaigrette
  • Dinner: Fresh Herb Crusted Flank Steak with Roasted Vegetables & Quinoa Pilaf
  • Dessert: Chocolate Raspberry Bar

I tested a week of the Getslim Gold program, which is Freshology’s standard fresh food service. The twice weekly shipment was more convenient than having to wait around for a daily delivery, and all meals were conveniently color coded for quick reference. The food itself was simple, yet elegant and great-tasting (particularly the desserts – don’t worry about diet deprivation here!), and I appreciated the accompanying nutritional information and simple instructions regarding how each meal should be optimally served (some can be served chilled as-is, while some should be heated).

Freshology is so effective, it’s quickly claimed a cult following among Hollywood's elite, including Jennifer Lopez, Ellen DeGeneres, Mel B, Mario Lopez, Lil' Kim, Denise Richards, Debi Mazar, Ricki Lake and more. Modern Family star Sofia Vergara even occasionally orders a two-week meal plan when she wants to drop a few pounds quickly and safely: “The food is good,” she recently told Shape magazine. “And I don’t have to think about it.”

For a limited time, Freshology is offering a holiday deal – sign up now through January 1, 2012 using the discount code “HOLIDAY11GG” and get a discount off the daily price of the Getslim Gold program.
