Make a DIY copper tripod lamp

See also

Make a DIY tripod lamp for less than $40 (including the shade) with Sarah M. Dorsey Designs.

Dorsey created this project for Apartment Therapy as a potential homemade gift. But it's also a great project to make for yourself when you need some stylish lighting but don't want to pay $100 or more for it.

To make this project you will need:

  • a piece of wood
  • a 10-foot piece of 1/2-inch copper plumbing pipe, cut into 3 equal lengths
  • 3 1/2-inch copper caps
  • Black spray paint
  • Lamp kit
  • Lampshade

The piece of wood will eventually become a small cup to hold the socket and the three legs of the lamp. You will need to drill three holes in the wood and then cut a notch in the middle of the three holes for the lamp socket to sit in. Then cut the wood in a circle and paint black.

Attach the legs and socket to the wood and attach end caps to the pipes. Drill a hole in one leg for the cord. Add a shade.
