Make a difference in floral designs using elements in graceful curves (Video)

When making floral arrangements, main players in the design are always flowers and greeneries which are used for primary or filler elements. In terms of creating colorful decorations, using beautiful flowers and greeneries in a well-organized color coordination is pretty important.

However choice of materials from another angle can offer a different type of arrangement creating linear beauties in graceful curves. This kind of beauty is created not from color coordination but only from the shape and combination of arranging materials.

For example, curly willows, grape vines or some other thin branches or twigs are sometimes used to create a different kind of atmosphere and these stuff contributes to making a totally different type of decorations. In addition to these materials, green stems in graceful curves are often used in order to create a totally different atmosphere in the floral decorations.

In addition to the beauty of color coordination, these curly materials can create graceful beauty of linear curve which can be often found in Japanese traditional floral art called Ikebana. If you are familiar with typical Japanese traditional Ikebana arrangement, you must have ever seen the arrangements that do not use flowers at all. All they use for designs are branches and greeneries of above mentioned materials.

Recently we can find this way of decorations in contemporary floral arrangements made by European or American floral designers. Namely such new trend of arrangements sometimes use curly materials in graceful curves to create a linear beauty in floral decorations whereby viewers can enjoy and appreciate another type of arrangements.

The same way of appreciation of beauties in Ikebana arrangement can be found in Bonsai which is also another type of Japanese traditional plant art. Bonsai does not use any flowers and they use small size of natural trees in a well designed shape together with natural small size of stones in the shape of natural rocks. Branches of Bonsai trees are forced to make beautiful curves by Bonsai producers while they grow in the pot.

By way of adopting the methodology from another artistic field can create unique contemporary floral decorations. To implement the design based on this concept, European floral designs and Japanese traditional floral art are blending recently in some areas, which enhances the beauty of flower arrangements.
