Eight Friday's until Christmas. The thought of that will elicit cringing to some people and excitement to others. But whether you have a "Bah Humbug" or a "Tis the Season" attitude, there is something that can be done to bring joy to your heart, which is helping others. Before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season overtakes you, consider what can be done to bring a smile on someone else's face.
Many service members and wounded veterans need help through critical times, needing food, help with repairs and bills, among other things. During the holiday season, it can be especially hard for the families that wish they could provide something special for their children too.
Operation Homefront (http://www.operationhomefront.net) exists to provide relief to those in need, recovery to Wounded Warriors, and recognition and appreciation to families making a difference. This year, they hope to collect over 2,000 toys and gift cards for children and teens in the Hampton Roads area alone. In order to deliver the toys in time for Christmas, they are requesting donations be received by December 1st. For more information on how to give, email email@example.com.
Make it a date night by shopping together for a family in need. It is amazing how doing selfless deeds together can bring a couple closer. The joy of giving to others is a gift you will give yourselves.
