Move over American Idol and The Voice, a new reality show centered around singing is coming to Tinsel Town. That's right, Majors & Minors - a show focusing on kids ranging from ages 8 to 16, will hit The Hub airwaves come September (2011).
Developed by famed songwriter Evan Bogart, the man who penned hits including Beyonce's "Halo", Rihanna's "SOS" and Sean Kingston's "Take Me There", Majors & Minors is geared toward Hollywood-hopefuls inspiring to be the next tween sensation.
Over the weekend, singers Sean Kingston and Avril Lavigne were announced as musical mentors, joining fellow celebs Colbie Caillat, Brandy, Leona Lewis, Mike Posner, American Idol stars Jordin Sparks and Adam Lambert.
"It's just going to be an amazing way to take a bunch of young talented people and make them better!", Bogart explained in an interview earlier this year at the Reality Rocks Expo.
Apparently, all of the contestants - who were reportedly selected from 40,000 applicants - will remain on the show until it's completion, giving them all a chance to develop their skills. (Aww, how sweet. Nothing like the tough lessons on 'winners and losers' taught by TLC's Todders & Tiaras.)
The winner of Majors & Minors will receive a recording deal with RCA/JIVE Label Group records as well as a coveted slot on a teen cross-country tour.
Sounds like good TV to me!
