A celebration of all things vegan is soon to be held here in Los Angeles at the LAX Radisson hotel, January 26 and 27. The first annual Vegan Health & Fitness Magazine Expo will bring together trainers, chefs, instructors, models, athletes and just about everyone who is someone in the world of vegan food and lifestyle. You, too, whether you’re already dedicated to this form of wholesomeness or merely curious about it, are more than welcome. The event is being billed as “pet friendly”, so those with companion animals who are not nervous in crowded conditions and are able to behave properly leashed or carried will be welcome also.
For the uninitiated, the term “vegan” refers to a diet and way of life that does not include any animal products. More than vegetarianism, vegans also eschew seafood/fish, eggs, honey, and dairy products. Some also go farther to exclude leather, silk, and medications containing anything from animals. Whether due to health conditions, religious beliefs or personal convictions, vegans are people who take a stand against animal cruelty, exploitation, and the rampant cholesterol-laden western diet. They are people who credit animals as being our fellow creations worthy of honor and respect. Vegans are frequently found to be far more tolerant, too, of those who do not extend such understanding toward them and their culture.
At the Expo, you will be able to attend workshops and/or simply browse the many educational displays and purchase products. It will be a great opportunity to ask questions, take notes, sample delicious healthy foods and learn much about this way of life. Should you wish to begin eliminating the animal-based products from your diet, this is the place to see how healthy vegans are in daily life. Rather than witnessing emaciated, anemic, wimpy-looking aged hippies wearing peace symbols and flowers in their hair, you can observe just how healthy and athletic those espousing this lifestyle can become. Former Olympian stars, fitness trainers and professional athletes will be in attendance. This weekend will surely be a major force in dispelling the myths of the undernourished vegan.
Word has it online that the tickets for this event are going fast, so it’s advisable to get yours right away. Here are links for your further information about the Expo and for purchasing tickets:
