AC Milan, Europe's most decorated team with 18 international titles will meet 11 time Mexican League Chivas in a major soccer clash at NRG Park on August 6, 2014. Charlie Stillitano, CEO and President of Relevent Sports joined Houston Texans and Lone Star Sports and Entertainment President Jamey Rhodes along with Houston Dynamo President Christ Canetti and Paco Palencia Sporting Director Chivas on the dais with the announcement.

"The match once again shows Houston as the center for soccer in the U.S. Since 2010, NRG Stadium has hosted the 2010 MLS All-Star Game against Manchester United, 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, January 25, 2012 friendly between Mexico and Venezuela, and May 31, 2013 friendly between Mexico and Nigeria, " shared Stillitano.

In announcing the game, Stillitano noted that this will be the first meeting ever between these two storied clubs. Both clubs will have their full rosters available as this will still be part of the preseason.

"There's no such thing as a friendly match when these teams sit in front of each other and thousands of peopple and the amount of pride these players have especially a proud team like Chivas and a proud team like AC Milan. It won't be a friendly It will be a game that will be filled with passion for the fans," shared Stillitano in story about the AS Roma and Real Madrid match at Giants Stadium on August 8, 2002.

It was the first time those two clubs had ever met and much the same now takes place in this meeting between AC Milan and Chivas, two teams that carry enormous popularity and pride.

Everyone agreed that soccer has risen exponentially in this country and with World Cup just ending, this was a perfect time to bring a major soccer event to Houston.

"No can deny the strength or popularity of this game," said Canetti in his opening remarks. "The more soccer content we have, the more big crowds we have, the more interest we have, the more talk, the more coverage, the more buzz the better it will be for the Dynamo, for our league so we are happy to be partnered on this event."

The game is set for 8:00p.m. CDT.
