The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be taking the stage at the Eagles Ballroom
Two major concerts were announced today in the Milwaukee area, and they are both certainly worth getting excited over. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sonic Youth are the next to be added to the list of excellent bands and artists to be gracing stages in the Brew City in the coming months.
Classic indie/alternative rock band Sonic Youth will be performing at Turner Hall Ballroom on Monday, July 20 at 8 p.m. Tickets are all general admission and will cost $24.50. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, May 2 at noon, but there will be a 1-day pre-sale for Pabst e-members on Friday, May 1 from noon to midnight. If you're interested in going to this show, it might be a good idea to sign up for an e-membership and buy your tickets that way. Wilco also had a Pabst pre-sale for their recent 2-day stint at the Pabst and it sold out before tickets even went on sale.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be performing at the Eagles Ballroom at The Rave on Sunday, May 31 at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, May 2 at 10 a.m. and will cost roughly $35 with Ticketmaster charges. This is another big indie rock show at The Rave, which has recently promoted more hard rock and metal acts, but also has upcoming shows with Franz Ferdinand, The Killers and now the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Perhaps this is a change for one of Milwaukee's most storied venues.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs just released their third full length album, "It's Blitz!" which I gave 4 out of 5 stars in a review at Suite 101, so be sure to check that out. The band has performed a few of these songs live in recent weeks on SNL and various late night talk shows and they sound great live and lead singer Karen O always knows how to keep the crowd entertained.
