Excessive use of air conditioners and other appliances such as pool pumps is most likely the culprits behind a major power failure/brown out that is affecting this Hollywood Hills Examiner and her neighbors (writing on my trusty laptop).
So far there is no word from the Department of Water and Power (DWP) but locals who are sweating it out with triple digit temps know a brownout when they see one. Although one AC-gluttonous resident did run to his fuse box to try to restore his power. He was devastated by the news that it was not going to happen.
Best advice fom our Nichols Canyon block captains, which was emailed to residents says, "Let's help the city by turning off all non-essentials. Do not run your dishwasher or washer/dryer, unplug your cell charger or anything else that may be sucking power no matter how small. You may want to unplug any pump that may be affected by not running at full capacity such as your pool pump. There isn't anything on DWP's website. If you feel like trying to get through to DWP to let them know, that would be great- 800-342-5397."
Stay cool my readers, jump in your pool to cool off or sit under a shady palm.
