Major Nelson posts countdown clock, points to new system announcement in June

Everyone has known for a while now that Microsoft has been working on the next Xbox system. No names, pictures or release dates have yet to surface, but Microsoft is working on their next system and they've sent out development kits to various developers, so the news isn't anything new.

What is new though, is the countdown clock which has shown up over at Major Nelson's blog. It's mysterious to say the least, and all it says is "And It's on...".

The clock will hit zero during E3 2013, thanks to GameInformer for figuring that little factoid out. Of course Major Nelson is mum on what the countdown is for, so it's all pure speculation at this point.

However last year E3 wasn't that big for Microsoft, they didn't show off much and didn't talk about their next generation console at all. This leads many to believe, this Examiner included, that Microsoft wanted to make sure no focus was shifted to the next gen without them being in full control.

The countdown clock starts the next six months of waiting, as E3 doesn't take place until June. So fans can start digging into every corner of the internet to try and determine what the clock means.

As long as it's not counting down to a new Kinect, everyone should be excited.
