A massive outbreak of truly arctic air is fully underway across central Ohio and much of the country. Temperatures have already dipped below 0 across most of the region this afternoon. Expect lows to bottom out this evening and hold steady through the morning hours on Tuesday. The temperature will likely get down to between -7 and -10. With winds still gusting over 25 mph at times, wind chills will likely range between -25 and -35F.
Please keep in mind that when the wind chill gets that low, frost bite can happen in under ten minutes! Be sure to take necessary precautions to keep your pipes from freezing as well. Opening up cabinets under sinks and turning the heat up are great ways to fight this potentially very costly problem.
As the core of the arctic air pushes east, temperatures will slowly "warm" on Tuesday. Expect us to head above 0 Tuesday afternoon and head for the upper single digits by Tuesday evening. Skies will remain partly to mostly sunny.
On Wednesday, highs will return to the upper 20s! Clouds will increase and some light snow shower activity will be possible. At this point, significant accumulating snow appears unlikely for the remainder of the week.
Temperatures will continue to warm going forward this weekend. Highs will head for the 40s and possibly even 50 degrees. Rain will be on the way as well for Saturday, but we should really just be happy for the warmer weather! Stay warm tonight and Tuesday as the major cold hangs tough overhead.
