In a press conference Thursday, Army officials announced that Major Nidal Malik Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder for last week's shooting at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas. Hasan’s attorney, retired Army Col. John Galligan stated that he was heavily sedated when charged.

13 people died in the shooting one week ago at Fort Hood, and 28 others were wounded. Hasan is an Army psychiatrist is the alleged shooter and he was wounded in the shooting, and is still in an Army hospital in Texas.

The FBI has made an official statement that said the "alleged gunman acted alone and was not part of a broader terrorist plot."

"I think the closest thing that indicates that there's a court-martial in the works is last night ... I did receive an e-mail from the prosecutor at Fort Hood indicating to me that the pass privileges and leave privileges of Major Hasan had been revoked," Galligan said.

Two of the victims from Thursday’s shooting at Fort Hood in Texas were from Utah; one soldier is dead and the other is in the hospital. Aaron Thomas Nemelka died at the scene, and was from West Jordan, Utah. The families are in shock because they don’t understand how something like this could happen on a military base.
