As Fashion Focus is in full swing in Chicago this week, Julius LaCour—creative director and designer behind the couture collection Maison De LaCour— showcased his Spring/Summer 2014 line as a part of the 9th annual Fashion Focus: Chicago’s Fashion Week, presented by Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events (DCASE) and programmed with the assistance of the Mayor’s Fashion Council.
A first for Fashion Focus, LaCour presented as a solo designer in a creative, avant-garde presentation style in contrast to the traditional runway show. LaCour’s S/S 2014 collection, entitled “The Stars Are Out Tonight,” was designed to evoke the 'joie de vivre' a la Studio 54 of the 1970s, anchored by the influences, color waves and prints of the Moroccan culture.
LaCour showcased his acclaimed couture line for the third consecutive year at Fashion Focus Chicago, with plans to relocate the brand to New York City in April 2014. “Participating in Fashion Focus again this year for the third and final time was bitter-sweet,” said LaCour. “The city of Chicago has been such a consistent and avid supporter of the Maison De LaCour brand, and this partnership has been extremely beneficial to the growth of our label. We are excited to announce our plans to relocate the brand to New York and are grateful to have launched with such a noteworthy and supportive platform as Fashion Focus.”
Fashion Focus events continue through Sunday October 21st. For a listing of the week’s events, check the Chicago Fashion Calendar.
