Karen Lee Banks freelance writer and instructional designer from Greene, Maine has recently taken up the practice of expressing her gratitude for the good things in life, a practice shared by many proponents of The Law of Attraction and other new age philosophies. Many believe that expressing gratitude releases positive energy, which in turn attracts more positive energy to your life.
Karen shares her thoughts on the importance of expressing gratitude:
I believe expressing gratitude is important in today's world, since negativity seems to be the norm, with bad news screaming at us from headlines - whether in print or online. Assessing what's good and positive in your life, and expressing them, helps you focus on those good things and uplifts your spirit.
Many people express their gratitude for the people and events in their lives in private. What makes Karen different is her resolve to do it everyday and to share her expressions of gratitude with the world via her Facebook account. Her reasons are two-fold.
While not everyone believes in God or any specific higher power, I do, and sharing my daily 'Attitude of Gratitude' posts on Facebook is my way of honoring God and perhaps helping others to be thankful for what is good in their lives.
When asked what inspired her to begin her ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ posts on Facebook, Karen knew exactly why she started.
The event that initiated this daily posting, in fact, was a quote I read attributed to Terry Shock, that was rather sobering: 'What if you woke up this morning and found the only things you had left were the things you thanked God for yesterday?'
Like others who subscribe to the belief that sharing your gratitude uplifts others and brings good things to pass in their own life, Karen serves as a positive influence in the lives she touches via her Facebook account, which in turn makes the world a better place for all of us.
