Maine women to take on Hartford in conference quarterfinal contest

The University of Maine women's basketball team clinched a winning record and a number four seed in the America East conference tournament when they defeated UNH 66-62 on Saturday afternoon.

Maine (16-13/10-6) will play Hartford in a quarterfinal game at the conference tournament at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

It is the first time the Black Bears will finish with a winning record since the 2004/2005 season.

It should be a very entertaining 4/5 game.

The teams split during the regular season.

Hartford defeated Maine 66-56 in overtime at Cross Insurance Center. Maine won 60-56, when the teams met at Hartford.

Ashleigh Roberts and Liz Wood have led the Black Bears all season.

Roberts scored 17 points and had nine rebounds in the regular season finale. She is averaging 13.4 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Wood scored 16 points and had seven rebounds in the win over UNH. She is averaging 12.4 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 2.9 assists per game.

Albany won the regular season conference championship.
