Maine starts conference play with 63-58 victory over Boston University

The University of Maine men's basketball team started America East play with a bang.

The Black Bears overcame a nine point deficit in the second half to defeat the Boston University Terriers 63-58 Wednesday evening.

Alasdair Fraser scored 11 of his game high 17 points in the second half to lead the Black Bears. Fraser also recorded six rebounds, three steals and three blocks.

Xavier Pollard chipped in with 13 points, four rebounds and three assists. Maine's leading scorer Justin Edwards was held to 10 points but he was a big factor in the victory as he dished out five assists.

Jon Mesghna added eight points and four rebounds. Mike Allison scored seven points and pulled down a game high 11 rebounds.

Maine (6-8) now has a three game winning streak. They will look for their second conference victory when they host UMBC on Saturday. The game can be seen live on WABI TV starting at 12 p.m.
