Maine softball drops two: Hockey wins a big one over Northeastern

The University of Maine Black Bears softball team started a long trip at Clearwater, Florida on Friday.

Jean Stevens hit a solo home run in a 5-1 loss to Stephen F. Austin. Nikki Byron had two hits for the Black Bears.

Carlie Thomas earned the victory for Stephen F. Austin.

Hannah Hill pitched a solid game and had the only RBI in a 3-1 Black Bears loss to Toledo.

Alli Beery earned the victory in the circle for Toledo.

Maine (1-5) will play two games at Clearwater on Saturday. The Black Bears will face Illinois at 10 a.m. and will go up against St. Joseph's at 2:45 p.m.

The Black Bears men's hockey team scored three consecutive goals to earn a 3-1 victory over Northeastern Friday night at the Alfond.

The Black Bears women's hockey team finished their season Friday evening with a 2-1 loss to Boston College in the Hockey East quarterfinals.
