Maine and Fairfield to meet in WBI second round game

The University of Maine Black Bears women's basketball team will travel to Fairfield, Connecticut for a battle with Fairfield University in the second round of the Women's basketball invitational (WBI) on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The winner will play the Eastern Michigan/UIC winner in a final four game of the WBI on March 26th or March 27th.

Eastern Michigan and UIC will play Monday evening.

Liz Wood recorded 21 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals to lead the seventh seeded Black Bears to a 77-47 victory over Bucknell in their opening round game of the WBI.

Katie Cizynski and Brittany Obi-Tabot each recorded a double-double in leading sixth seeded Fairfield to a come from behind 90-86 double overtime victory over Bryant in their opening round game of the WBI.

Fairfield defeated Maine 80-59 in the Brown Classic Championship game in Providence, Rhode Island on December 8th.

Maine (17-14) has won three of their last four games.
